The March 16, 2026 Board of Commissioners meeting was called to order at 7pm. The agenda for tonight’s meeting can be found at https://bit.ly/3utv5SE.

BOC approved minutes from the Board’s Regular Meeting and Closed Session of March 2, 2026.

Appointments

Commissioner Abernethy recommends the reappointment of the following to the Nursing & Rest Home Community Advisory Committee: Warren Elston, Craig Pinto and Marea Pinto each to second terms with term expiration of April 7, 2029. BOC approved.

Presentations

1 – County Manager Mary Furtado presented a Strategic Plan update.

Consent Agenda

1 – Staff requests the Board of Commissioners approve 24 releases totaling $6,741.55, four refunds totaling $43,586.13,
and 53 Motor Vehicles Bill adjustments / refunds totaling $4,787.26 requested during the month of February.

2 - Staff requests the Board of County Commissioners adopt the proposed resolution accepting this report and directing the Catawba County Tax Collector to advertise the delinquent tax liens as prescribed by NCGS 105-369.
BOC approved both items.

Manager’s Report

1 - Budget Transfer - Contingency transfer to move $26,353 of contingency funds to Lake Norman Marine Commission for a contract. Catawba County expects 75% of this expense to come back through revenue received from the other 3 member counties of the LNMC.

Attorney’s Report

Staff requests the Board of Commissioners authorize the County Manager to assess the viability of participating in an Opioid Litigation settlement, to execute all documents necessary to join the Six Remnant Defendants Settlement, and to provide documents needed to facilitate the settlement. BOC approved.

Adjournment

BOC adjourned the meeting at 7.55 pm and entered into closed session.
