Animal Services
Catawba County Animal Services aims to treat all citizens and animals fairly and compassionately through a wide variety of services.
Animal Shelter
The Catawba County Animal Shelter is located at 201 Government Services Drive on the Catawba County Government Center campus in Newton. The shelter is operated and staffed by the Catawba County Animal Services team, who works to care for and re-home adoptable pets in our community.
After receiving comprehensive medical and temperament examinations, animals taken in by the shelter are made available for adoption. Additionally, our full-time Rescue/Foster Coordinator works with outside rescue organizations to place animals in loving homes. To learn more about the animals in our care, visit our Adopt a Pet and Foster a Pet pages, contact us or stop by our shelter to meet them in person. You can also keep up with our latest updates on our Facebook (@catawbacoanimalservices) and Instagram (@catawbacoanimalservices) social media pages.

Animal Control

In addition to the enforcement of state and local animal control laws, we meet our goals through public education and a commitment to positive outcomes.
