Permit Services
Online Services: The new ePermits system provides online access to permits related to commercial and residential construction, well and septic installation or repair, food and lodging applications, planning and zoning, and play review, among others. Users can now submit permit applications and payments and view inspection appointments and results 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In-Person Services: The Catawba County Permit Center (located in the Catawba County Government Center at 25 Government Drive in Newton) continues to accept in=person applications and payments from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

SUBMIT PERMIT APPLICATIONS:
Permit applications are accepted online through our ePermits system. CLICK HERE to access the system.
If you are a first-time user, you will need to set up a user account to access the system. If you are a building or trade contractor who has done business with us in the past five years, contact the Permit Center at 828-465-8399 or permitapps@catawbacountync.gov for an access code to link to your existing account. All other users will not need an access code.

To use the ePermits system, CLICK HERE and create your account.*
*Building and trade contractors who are already doing business with the Permit Office should start by contating the Catawba County Permit Center at permitapps@catawbacountync.gov or 828-465-8399 to receive an access code. The code will enable them to set up an online account that synchronizes with their existing information in the system.
*All other users will start by visiting epermits.catawbacountync.gov and creating a new user account online. When you get to the web page, click "Sign Up" in the top right corner to begin. An access code from the permit office will not be needed.
Once your account is established, you can select from the menu of options to begin using the system. Online tutorials are available to assist with learning the system.
You will also receive access to a personalized dashboard, where you can track the status of your applications and payments, request inspections, see upcoming scheduled inspections, and view inspection results. Checks, debit cards, and credit cards (Visa and MasterCard only) are accepted.

If you do not already have an ePermits user account, you will be required to set one up before submitting your inspection request.
Applications are now available online through our ePermits Public Portal. Additional forms may need uploaded alongside your electronic permit application. Links to these additional forms are usually available within the epermit application itself, but may also be found below.

Permit Detail Search (prior to 12/04/23 only): Search permit and inspection records based on the permit number.
Contractor Search (prior to 12/04/23 only): Search permit and inspection records based on the contractor’s name.
Inspection Requests are now available through our ePermits Public Portal. An ePermits account will need to be created for use.
To schedule an inspection, complete an Online Inspection Request or contact the Permit Center at 828-465-8399 (leave a message). Please include the permit number or street address of the project, the inspection type, and the desired date for the inspection in the message.
Inspections are scheduled for the following workday. Once that day is booked, inspections are scheduled for the next available workday.
Online payments are accepted through our ePermits shstey.
