Convenience Centers

Catawba County offers five (5) Convenience Centers located throughout the County for solid waste disposal and recycling opportunities. To view a map of Convenience Center locations, Click Here. The centers are operated as part of the franchise agreement with Republic Services. For questions regarding the Convenience Centers, please call Republic Services at 828-256-2158.

A Convenience Center is a drop-off location where citizens who don't have curbside pickup can bring their trash or any items that can't be picked up by their regular trash service. The Convenience Centers are all staffed by an attendant who will be there to assist you with sorting your waste and pricing your drop-off. Prices vary and may be charged by the bag or by the size of your truck or trailer load. More information on fees can be found below in Convenience Center FAQs.

Recycling is free! Not all centers are equipped to accept all types of recycling, so please refer to our Recycling page for more information on where to take your items.

*The Sherrills Ford and Oxford Convenience Centers will close at 3:00pm on Christmas Eve

Convenience Center FAQs

All household garbage must be bagged for disposal at the Convenience Centers. Bulky waste such as furniture, chairs, and mattresses are accepted at all of the Convenience Centers, fees apply. All of the same recyclable materials that the County’s Curbside Recycling Program accepts are also accepted at the five Convenience Centers. Additionally, the Rocky Ford Road Convenience Center accepts appliances, scrap metal, antifreeze, cooking oil, motor oil and filters. Bethany Church Rd accepts antifreeze as well. Bethany Church Rd, Cooksville, and Oxford sites also accepts cooking oil, motor oil and filters.

  • Residential Garbage: $2.00 per bag
  • Small Truck (6ft bed or less): $20.00
  • Large Truck (up to 8ft bed): $30.00
  • Larger loads will be sent to the Landfill
  • There is no fee for the disposal of recyclables
