Briefly describe your job. What do you do?
I oversee claims management for workers’ compensation, auto, general liability, and property. I coordinate and manage safety and OSHA training programs, ensuring compliance while fostering a safe and secure working environment. I manage the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) processes for Emergency Services, Sheriff’s Office, Utilities and Engineering, Facilities, and County Parks. I also initiate and oversee the random drug screening program to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.
What is a typical workday like for you?
Busy! Busy! But I love it. Each day brings its adventures.
What is your favorite aspect of your job – what do you enjoy doing most?
I am fully committed to my role and take great pride in ensuring employees feel valued and supported. For nearly 12 years, I had the privilege of serving the citizens of Catawba County directly. Since starting in Human Resources in 2019, I have aimed to assist the employees of Catawba County with the same dedication and commitment.
What is the County core value you believe most relates to the work you do, and why?
If I had to choose one, it would be Doing What’s Right. I am committed to treating our employees and citizens with the highest level of respect while providing exceptional customer service and professionalism. My role involves many complexities, especially with workers’ compensation. I want to make sure every employee feels supported and valued.
What do you like best about working for Catawba County?
I appreciate my experience working with the County, especially the excellent support system and its benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.
