Briefly describe your job. What do you do?
Mainly working with vital records: Birth, Death, Marriage, DD-214 and Notaries. Amendments on vital records, name changes, sex changes, legitimations and adoptions. Vital Records makes sure that every document has a book and page including indexing and connecting image with data. Assist citizens with vital records this includes marriage license, registering DD-214’s, notary oaths (initial and reappointments), notary services and real estate documents (deeds, plats, satisfaction etc.)

What is a typical workday like for you?
Every morning I check NCDave system to print births and amendments. My job is to verify that everything is indexed and that image is connected to data. Once it’s in the systems it’s easier to locate document. It’s varies on a day to day basis and there’s always a project to-do. My day consist in helping citizens. I like to take one day at a time with a mission to accomplish!

What is your favorite aspect of your job – what do you enjoy doing most?
My favorite aspect of my job is helping out our citizens. When they come to Register of Deeds is usually for a major life changing event. I try to provide best customer service by helping or guiding. It also makes me think on a day-to-day basis to just be thankful and grateful for another day.

What is the County core value you believe most relates to the work you do, and why?
Doing it together! (Teamwork, Inclusion, Stewardship, Empathy, Patience) It takes a team to do the work. I truly value and appreciate our team always supportive and willing to go above and beyond! Taking that extra mile makes it all worth it.
