Visit the Library to Go at the Catawba Valley Festival of the Arts

Published: April 22, 2021

Now that mild weather has returned, the Library to Go is making appearances at community events throughout the county. In recent weeks, it’s been a companion presence for a series of ballet storytime experiences coordinated with the Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts.

This Saturday, the mobile vehicle will play a role in the first annual Catawba Valley Festival of the Arts, a weekend-long event that runs from Friday, April 23 through Sunday, April 25. This new arts showcase is intended to celebrate our community’s distinctive, diverse, creative voices as it tells a bigger story that speaks to the magic of the Catawba Valley.

The festival takes place at Catawba Farms (1670 Southwest Blvd, Newton, NC) and occurs with the support of Lenoir-Rhyne University and Catawba Valley Community College. It will feature visual, literary, and performing artists and designers and include choral and musical performances, open mic sessions, art exhibits and portfolio displays, theater and dance performances, and lots of delicious food and drink.

The Library to Go will be set up from 12 noon till 3 pm on Saturday, April 24, and we hope you’ll stop by to visit while you attend the festival. We’ll be checking out books, sharing information about library programs, and talking about this year’s Summer Learning extravaganza!
