Thrive in Community Art Exhibit
Published: August 08, 2019
It’s never too late to live with joy and indulge your passions! That’s the lesson being prominently shared at the library’s upcoming art exhibit.
Thrive in Community is an art collaboration with Neighbors Network and is intended to showcase works by local artists aged 50 to 90+. A variety of subject matter and media are represented, and the exhibit helps debunk the myth that art is an elite pursuit that’s off limits to the general public. The show also proves two points: that art thrives in our community and that seniors thrive when they’re in community.
The exhibit was prompted by one senior citizen’s long-held wish to have his art highlighted in a public venue, and the display grew from there to include works by a number of local residents. During the day-long showcase, browsing is encouraged, and people are invited to gain inspiration for their own creative pursuits.
Thrive in Community takes place from 9 am till 3 pm on Friday, August 16 at the Conover Branch Library. Refreshments will be served.
