Suitcase Drive

Did you know…many kids in foster care use trash bags to carry their belongings from home to home because they do not have suitcases. During the month of November, drop off new or gently used suitcases, duffel bags, or toiletry bags at any library location to support local youth. All donations will be delivered to Family Builders of Catawba Valley.
Self-Serve Clothing Rack

If you or someone you know needs a little extra warmth, come by the Main Library in Newton to grab a free coat and/or hat. The self-serve rack is located near the computer lab (right side of the building coming in from the front doors).
Medicaid Expansion Enrollment

Main Library in Newton
Medicaid Expansion is beginning in December. With a possible 45-day application process time, Social Services is encouraging those who qualify to apply before December to avoid longer wait times. The Library has a trained Community Navigator who is available Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays to assist with applications. To schedule your appointment, please call 828-465-8665.

Zumba Mondays!

Kick off your week with a burst of Zumba, a dance and movement class that’s too much fun to call exercise. It’s appropriate for every skill and ability level and open to anyone 14+ (parental signature required for teens under 18).

Gentle Flow Yoga

Family Builders of Catawba Valley invites anyone interested in fostering or adopting a child to attend this resource family information session. Specific information about becoming a resource family will be available at the meeting. Guests will also learn about required training for resource families and hear stories about the rewards of helping Catawba County’s children in foster care.
Pottery Class: Functional Hand Built Mug
