Tales in the Garden: Spring into Community

Main Library in Newton, Community Garden

Join us for this fun family program in the garden as we celebrate community and Springtime! Enjoy stories read in Hmong, English & Spanish. Make crafts, take home plants, and meet special guests including local Hmong gardener Mai Yang.

Perler Bead Club

Zumba Mondays!
Mondays at 6 pm

Kick off your week with a burst of Zumba, a dance and movement class that’s too much fun to call exercise. It’s appropriate for every skill and ability level and open to anyone 14+ (parental signature required for teens under 18). 

Purl and Chain: Knit and Crochet Club
Tuesdays at 6 pm

Make new friends and enjoy the company of others while you knit and crochet. Bring your own materials. 

Mindful Movement
Fridays at 3 pm

Combining stretching with meditation may benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. You can do these exercises while sitting in a chair or bring a mat/towel for floor routines.  While this class is geared to 50+, adults of all ages are invited to join. 

Garden Volunteer Day
Saturdays, April 13 from 9 - 11 am

We're seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with tasks such as weeding, mulching, and planting at the Main Library’s community garden. All ages and experience levels are welcome. If you love being outdoors and getting your hands in the soil, we'd be delighted to have you on board.

Northstar Digital Literacy Training

Explore your computer skills and find areas to improve with the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment. This tool has fun online tests that help you get better at things like using email, surfing the internet, and using Windows, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Get the skills you need to feel confident with technology in your daily life by checking out tests on topics such as Social Media, Telehealth, Supporting K-12 Distance Learning, and Career Search Skills.

Roaming Readers Walking Club

Want to stretch your legs while enjoying nature and making new friends? Join the library’s new walking club! Meet us at the information center at Mountain Creek Park where we’ll begin our walk on their paved ADA-accessible trail that winds through a quiet cove.

Health Insurance Navigator Assistance

Get help signing up for health insurance from a federally qualified health insurance navigator from Legal Aid of North Carolina who can provide unbiased and experienced help in selecting the Medicaid or marketplace.gov plan that is best for you. Bring proof of income if possible, as well as the social security numbers of any dependents. To register, please call 1-855-733-3711 or drop in.

Sleep Like a Baby

Needle Felting
