Santa Visit & Holiday Celebration

Presented in English and en espanol
Join us to celebrate the holidays with bilingual storytime, crafts, and hot cocoa. Children of all ages will enjoy a delightful visit from Santa, so don't forget to bring your camera! Everyone is welcome!
PAWS to Read

Friday Film: How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Black History Discussion Group

Gift Wrap Like a Pro

This session will show you how to use less paper and get tight corners on your gift packages. Supplies will be provided for each participant to wrap up to two gifts (maximum size of 36” in any direction) that are brought to the program.
Create a Vinyl Sticker
Wednesday, December 18 at 5 pm
Design your own vinyl sticker using our Silhouette Curio digital cutter. Choose from a variety of fonts, and import your own image using the Silhouette Studio. Stickers can be up to 6” by 6”. Registration required.
Mid-Century Modern Christmas Tree Craft
Thursday, December 19 at 10 am
All supplies are provided for participants to make a stylized, frame-able Christmas tree from common household items. Registration required.
Tinkercad 101: Build a Snowflake
Thursday, December 19 at 4 pm
Learn to create 3-D files using free online computer-aided design (CAD) software. Participants will create a simple snowflake using geometric shapes and letters that can be printed using the 3-D printer. Registration required.
Silent Book Club
Friday, December 20 at noon
SBC is a space for introverts to socialize, choose their preferred level of interaction, meet new friends, and read in companionable silence. Bring your lunch and make some headway in your to-be-read pile!

Student Art Show
Premieres December 16
Selected students in grades K-2 at Sherrills Ford and Catawba Elementary Schools have studied the importance of line in art, along with different ways to express line in their own artwork. They've taken special inspiration from Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. Students in grades 4-6 have explored the use of contrast to create variety and interest in art, taking the Pop Art movement of the 1960s, including Andy Warhol, as inspiration. Discover the wonderful works of art these students have created under the instruction of Ian Powers.
STEAM Explorers: Snow Slime

Kids 7-13 are invited to learn about science concepts through hands-on experiments. Join us this month as we celebrate the winter season by making a special snow slime. Registration required.

Create a personalized ornament to give as a Christmas present or keep for your own tree. Make a special keepsake to commemorate baby’s first Christmas or honor an anniversary or birthday. Family Movie at the Library: Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Dora, a teenage explorer, leads her friends on an adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost city of gold. Popcorn and a beverage will be served. Rated PG.

Our fourth quarter selection is The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. We’ll have a closing discussion online on December 19 at noon and announce our next quarterly selection at that time as well.

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR'S CLOSURES
All library branches will be closed Tuesday, December 24 through Thursday, December 26 for the Christmas holiday. They will also close at 5 pm on Tuesday, December 31 and remain closed on Wednesday, January 1 for the New Year's holiday. Enjoy a safe, merry, and relaxing holiday with your families and friends!
