Star Lab Exploration

Star Lab Exploration

Published: July 18, 2019

To reinforce Summer Learning’s outer space theme, the library is bringing in a traveling Star Lab as a cool venue for teaching astronomy. The inflatable dome looks like a giant igloo, and the video lessons are projected onto its ceiling just as they are in a brick-and-mortar planetarium.

Once participants get inside, they’ll embark on a fun, immersive galactic travel experience, moving through the universe to discover planets, stars, comets, and much more. Each individual ‘show’ is 20 minutes long, so you can drop in to catch the excitement as it’s convenient for you.

Since the Star Lab requires a good amount of headroom for set-up, it will travel to the library’s larger branches. Look for it at the following times and locations:

  • Tuesday, July 23 from 3-7 pm at the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Branch Library
  • Thursday, July 25 from 2-7 pm at the Main Library in Newton
  • Saturday, July 27 from 11 am-1 pm at the Conover Branch Library
