Published: December 03, 2024
Catawba County Tax Administrator Brian Myers was named the 2024 North Carolina Assessor of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers (NCAAO).
The Assessor of the Year Award is presented annually to one outstanding North Carolina tax assessor in recognition of outstanding achievement in tax administration and public service.
As the county’s tax administrator, Myers is responsible for planning, directing and administering the County’s tax program. This includes the establishment of values for business, personal and real property appraisal, maintenance of real estate records, listing and preparation of tax bills, and collection of taxes on behalf of the County and its eight municipalities.
Myers joined the Catawba County Tax Office as tax administrator in 2021. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from Western Carolina University and currently serves as Education Chair for the North Carolina Tax Collectors Association and Education Chair for the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers.
“Brian’s leadership and professional acumen are assets to the Catawba County team,” said County Manager Mary Furtado. “We are excited to see his expertise recognized statewide with this prestigious award.”
NCAAO is an organization of North Carolina state and county assessing officials working to achieve and maintain a high level of performance in property tax assessment administration through professionalism, education and communication. NCAAO is affiliated with the International Association of Assessing Officers.
