Library Community Garden
Published: July 14, 2022
Catawba County Library’s community garden has been around since 2014, and is still living up to its name by providing a variety of resources and building relationships.
The community garden is not only a testing ground for gardening techniques but also a source of produce for healthy eating classes, a classroom for hands-on gardening and composting seminars, and a haven for reading, play, storytimes, and picnic-table lunches. During the growing season, the garden also produces a regular supply of vegetables to benefit The Corner Table Soup Kitchen in Newton.
Whether it’s a girls scout troop, gardening club, storytime kids, or individuals that like to get their hands dirty, we love the community we’re building around the garden. If you’d like to join us, the next garden volunteer day is July 23 from 9-11 am. In the meantime, enjoy some photos from the 8th season of the garden!
