Letter Writing & Pen Pals

Letter Writing & Pen Pals

Published: January 14, 2021

The art of letter writing has a long historical tradition, and until the era of computers, it was a primary means of communications in business and personal life. Although it’s never completely gone away, it has experienced a revival during the COVID-19 pandemic, when routines were disrupted and people forced to slow the pace of daily life.

If you’d like to focus on being more intentional these days, letter-writing is a great practice and habit. It doesn’t come with the pressures of emails, texts, and phone calls; instead, it allows you more time to collect your thoughts, share your impressions, and even create something beautifully and artistically written.

If you’re interested in dipping your foot in the pool and even increasing your social connections at a more comfortable pace, join us for an introduction to letter writing. Our host has 30+ years in written correspondence, and she’ll talk about how to find a pen pal and how to begin writing your first letter. She’ll also share details about global writing challenges you may want to try, including InCoWriMo and LetterMo. Finally, she’ll offer tips about the tools you’ll need, postage requirements, safety considerations, and ways to keep track of outgoing and incoming letters.

The Zoom session takes place at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 21. To participate, register at https://tinyurl.com/CCLS-letterwriting-reg.
