Holiday Closings: Christmas and New Year's

Catawba County Government offices and facilities will be closed in observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays as follows:

Catawba County Government offices will be closed from Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27 and will reopen Tuesday, December 28. Offices will also be closed Friday, December 31.

All Catawba County Library System branches (Newton, Claremont, Conover, Maiden, Sherrills Ford-Terrell, Southwest and St. Stephens) will be closed from Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27 and will reopen Tuesday, December 28. County libraries will also be closed Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1.

The Catawba County Park System (Bakers Mountain, Riverbend and St. Stephens) will only be closed Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24) and Christmas Day (Saturday, December 25). County parks will be open during the New Year’s holiday.

Catawba County Public Health will be closed from Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27 and again on Friday, December 31. However, please note that StarMed will continue to offer COVID-19 drive-through testing at Public Health Monday-Friday both weeks.

The Catawba County Animal Shelter will be closed from Thursday, December 23 through Monday, December 27 and will reopen Tuesday, December 28. The shelter will also be closed Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1, reopening Tuesday, January 4 following its usual schedule.

The Blackburn Sanitary Landfill will close at 12 p.m. Friday, December 24 and remain closed Saturday, December 25, reopening Monday, December 27 following its usual schedule. It will also be closed Saturday, January 1.

The Blackburn Construction & Demolition Landfill will be closed Friday, December 24 through Monday, December 27 and will reopen Tuesday, December 28. It will also be closed Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1.
