Filing Begins August 16 for 2019 Catawba County City School Board Elections

Information for candidates seeking a board seat with Hickory Public Schools and Newton-Conover City Schools in the November 5, 2019, election is as follows:

Hickory Public Schools – three seats total
Filing begins noon, August 16, 2019 ending 5pm, September 6, 2019
Filing Fee: $5.00

• Hickory School Ward 4 (4-year term) – one seat
• Hickory School Ward 6 (4-year term) – one seat
• Member At-Large (4-year term) – one seat

Newton-Conover City Schools – three seats total
Filing begins noon, August 16, 2019 ending noon, September 6, 2019
Filing Fee: $5.00

• Newton School District (4-year term) – one seat
• Conover School District (4-year term) – two seats

Interested candidates should file in Newton at the Catawba County Board of Elections Office in the Government Center at 25 Government Dr. Candidates must be 21 years old and a registered voter in the school district or ward for which they are filing. Staff will be available 8am-5pm Monday through Friday to assist with the candidate filing form and the required campaign committee forms.
