Election Poll Worker Opportunities Available in Catawba County
Published: March 02, 2022
The Catawba County Board of Elections is actively seeking poll workers to help during this year’s upcoming elections.
“Being a poll worker is a great way to experience the local elections process firsthand and earn a few extra dollars,” said Catawba County Board of Elections Director Amanda Duncan. In Catawba County, poll workers are paid a flat fee for each election they work.
Some of the requirements to serve as a poll worker in Catawba County include the following:
- Be registered to vote in Catawba County.
- Be available to work 13-14 hours on Election Day without leaving the precinct. This year’s Primary Election Day is Tuesday, May 17, 2022, and General Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, 2022. A variety of other poll work options, including four-hour shifts and weekends, are also available during One-Stop Voting (April 28-May 14 for the Primary Election and October 20-November 5 for the General Election).
- Participate in a 2-to-3-hour training in the months leading up to an election (current sessions will be taking place between March 28 and April 5, with after-hours sessions available).
- Be available for approximately one hour the day before Election Day to assist with setting up the precinct.
