Catawba County Celebrates Improvements to Sherrills Ford Convenience Center

Catawba County celebrated the completion of improvements to the Sherrills Ford Convenience Center with a ribbon cutting on September 22. County leaders and Commissioners Barbara Beatty and Cole Setzer joined staff and community members to mark the completion of the project.
The expanded site is designed to make visits safer and more convenient for the approximately 100 residents who use the center each day. Improvements include a larger site, an improved entrance and exit, and upgraded lighting to create a safer environment for both residents and employees.
The project also brings new recycling opportunities to Sherrills Ford. Residents can now bring used motor oil and filters, antifreeze, and cooking oil to the center for recycling.
“This is the kind of practical investment that makes a difference in people’s everyday interactions with County services, for the hundreds of residents who use this service every week” said Catawba County Board of Commissioners Chair Randy Isenhower. “Residents now have a safer, more functional site with additional opportunities to recycle, and our employees have a better environment in which to serve them. These improvements position the facility to better meet the needs of the Sherrills Ford community for years to come.”
The County has operated the Sherrills Ford Convenience Center since 1976. After purchasing the property from Duke Energy Carolinas in December 2022, the County began planning the improvements and expansion celebrated at the ribbon cutting.
The Sherrills Ford Convenience Center is located at 8876 Sherrills Ford Rd. in Sherrills Ford.
