Adult STEAM: 3-D Printed Jewelry

Did you know that a 3-D printer can generate everything from small toys and replacement parts to kids’ trophies and decorative household accessories? Now, add jewelry to the mix!

At our upcoming Adult STEAM workshop, we’ll learn to create 3-D files using Tinkercad, a free online program that features computer-aided design (CAD) tools. Participants will have the opportunity to produce simple designs for earrings, necklaces, or bracelets using geometric shapes and letters. Then, we’ll take these designs and use the 3-D printer to transform them into actual objects before adding clasps and posts as finishing touches.

If you have thoughts about what you’d like to make, bring your ideas to the workshop, or get inspiration from our in-house resources. Supplies will be provided, so please register in advance by calling 828.465.8665.

The session takes place at 6 pm on Thursday, August 15 at the Main Library in Newton.
