Krystin Rogers

Emergency Services, Office Support Specialist
Years with the County: 3
Briefly describe your job. What do you do?
I’m the first-person people encounter when they call or come into Emergency Services. I ensure that the person needing assistance gets connected to the service needed. I support all divisions but works most often with the Fire Marshal’s office and Veterans Services. I manage the Special Needs Registry and help with some billing within the department. I also serve many departments by maintaining the badging system.
What is a typical workday like for you?
Answering phones and assisting those who come in. I help them direct them to the appropriate resource.
What is your favorite aspect of your job – what do you enjoy doing most?
I enjoy learning all the different rules and regulations involved with Emergency Services. As a citizen some of these things are often unknown.
What is the County core value you believe most relates to the work you do, and why?
The Catawba County core value I relate to the most is Doing What Matters Most. Working in Emergency Services has shown me how important it is to serve others, take initiative, and focus on what matters most each day. I believe that even the smallest things we do can make a difference in someone else’s life. I try to be dependable, take pride in my work, and treat people with kindness and respect. To me, this core value means remembering why we do what we do and making sure our work positively impacts the people and community we serve.
What do you like best about working for Catawba County?
I like the fact that I can help the citizens of Catawba County that may not know about the different services we have. I like the fact that I am making someone’s day brighter even though I am a behind the scenes employee.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my four-year-old daughter, who keeps life fun and full of joy. I also love to sing, explore new restaurants, and make special memories with my Pawpaw.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
If I could have one superpower, it would be the ability to read minds! I’d always be one step ahead of the game, prepared for anything, and probably save myself a few unnecessary surprises. Let’s just say it would be nice to know what people are thinking before they say it—professionally speaking, of course!
