Briefly describe your job. What do you do?
As an Assistant I verify real estate documents for permanent entry in our public search database.  My role involves ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of these documents, providing customer service to the public, and supporting the overall operations of the Register of Deeds office.  Another important aspect of this job is knowing the NC general statues that govern this office. 

What is a typical workday like for you?
A typical workday involves a mix of administrative tasks, such as doing the daily deposit, verifying real estate documents, assisting customers with their inquiries, and being available for questions and support for staff to ensure smooth operations.

What is your favorite aspect of your job – what do you enjoy doing most?
My favorite aspect of my job is interacting with the public and helping them with their needs.  I enjoy the satisfaction that comes from ensuring our records are accurate and accessible, as well as the opportunity to continuously learn and improve our services. 

What is the County core value you believe most relates to the work you do, and why?
I believe the County core value of “Doing What’s Right” most relates to my work.  This value encompasses Integrity, Respect, Transparency, and Professionalism, which are all crucial to the operations of the Register of Deeds office. Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of public records, treating all individuals with respect, maintaining transparency in our processes, and upholding a high level of professionalism are essential aspects of my role.

What do you like best about working for Catawba County?
What I like best about working for Catawba County is the sense of community and the support we receive from both colleagues and citizens. It’s rewarding to work in a place where everyone is dedicated to making a positive impact and where I can contribute to addressing the needs of those in our community.

Where did you grow up?
Catawba County- born and raised.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Spending time with my family, going for long walks in our county parks and watching my daughter play softball every chance I get. 

Favorite movie, TV show, and/or book?
My favorite TV show at this time would be Blue Bloods and I’ve always been a fan of Jodi Picoult books, but right now I’m reading Colleen Hoover.

Favorite musical artist or genre?
I like Country and Christian music.  My favorite Christian group is “For King and Country”.  I got to see them at an Atlanta Braves game last summer and it was a great day!

Favorite sports team(s)?
Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Braves.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
I would want to fly, but I’d want my family to fly too.  I love to travel but it wouldn’t be the same without them there to experience it with me.
