Meet Writers and Songwriters
Published: February 13, 2019
If you’re an artist, improving your craft doesn’t necessarily result from people liking what you do. Often, it’s more helpful to get feedback from like-minded folks who understand what you’re trying to accomplish and who can help stretch you creatively.
The Library understands the benefits of this type of constructive dialogue, and it hosts a variety of arts groups on a monthly basis. So, whether you’re looking for guidance, want to bounce ideas off someone, or need a diplomatic voice to suggest that you shift your approach on a project, these groups are a terrific source of support.
If you’re a musician, you’ll want to attend the Catawba Songwriters meetings, which take place the third Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. Adults and teens are both invited to share their musical talents and to learn from one another. Participants are encouraged to bring a finished song or one that’s in progress to introduce to the group. You’ll find lots of great input to help you refine the work you’re doing.
The next meeting will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, February 19 at the Southwest Branch Library.
If you’re a writer, you’ll be interested in attending the Catawba Valley Writers Club, whose meeting schedule is also the third Tuesday of each month. They gather at the Conover Branch Library for a regular check-in and to discuss, evaluate, and share their works. If you enjoy writing fiction, poetry, or creative non-fiction – or even if you just take delight in putting words on paper – the group will prove beneficial. There’s plenty of lively conversation and friendly fellowship!
The next meeting takes place at 6 pm on Tuesday, February 19 at the Conover Branch Library.
