Home Buyers Workshop
Published: May 15, 2018
Buying a home is one of the single most exciting, stressful, and resource-intensive adventures you can embark on, and for first-time buyers, it’s an especially daunting prospect.
Even if you attempt to do research online, the terminology can be confusing, and you’re uncertain about what decisions or products apply to your circumstances. How do you get the best mortgage? Do you have to pay PMI or not? How many years should your mortgage cover? What type of due diligence are you required to do? What’s helpful for additional peace of mind?
If you’re considering purchasing a home or could just use the clarity of a professional, the library is offering a no-pressure home buyers workshop that’s as much an information-gathering session as a chance to speak to a lender about specific questions.
Martha Carillo, a home mortgage consultant with Wells Fargo in Newton, is the expert who will be guiding the discussion, and she will be sharing the guidelines of her presentation in Spanish. She is also available to answer specific questions in English, so anyone who is interested is welcome to attend.
The main focus of Ms. Carillo’s talk will be an explanation of how the home-buying process works. You’ll learn about credit basics, financing options, loan applications, and much more! Even better, you’ll come away with a better idea of what’s involved in purchasing a home, including more realistic expectations of expenses incurred, time frames necessary, and the various people involved (realtors, loan officers, attorneys, insurance reps, etc.). Hopefully, with a little direct information, you’ll also be better equipped to make smart, realistic decisions about this life-changing decision!
The presentation will take place Thursday, May 24 at 5:30 pm at the Newton Library. Join us!
