While lots of people use Facebook or Instagram to keep up with friends and family, LinkedIn is the go-to site for business relationships. In fact, it’s one of the best place to showcase your professional skills, and it’s incredibly handy if you’re trying to land a job, be visible to industry recruiters, and network with organizations and managers that can help build your career.
If you’re trying to re-enter the workforce after time away, are seeking a career change, or are graduating into the world of work, you’ll want to take advantage of this social media networking site for career-minded people.
To help take the mystery out of LinkedIn, the Library is devoting a WorkLife Wednesday session to helping people learn about and participate in the site. We’re offering support for creating a LinkedIn profile, creating or updating a LinkedIn resumé, or producing a business-appropriate portrait to upload as your LinkedIn headshot.
Capacity is limited, but if you’re interested in staking out a place on the online career site, please call 828.465.8665 to register. Bring all of the necessary materials for your listing, and if you’re having a photo taken, please come in appropriate business dress.
The workshop takes place from 3-6 pm on Wednesday, April 24 at the main Library in Newton.
