Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Minimum Requirements for Juvenile Justice Involvement

Each funded program must meet ONE of the following requirements:

At least 35% of all youth served during any 12-month period shall have been referred to the funded program by the juvenile court or law enforcement. Referral by juvenile court means a juvenile court counselor has requested the youth be served in the program.

OR

At least 50% of all youth served during any 12-month period shall have, during the 12-month period prior to admission, had a juvenile court referral (petition), run away, been suspended/expelled from school, or been detained in secure custody.

OR

At least 80% of all youth served during any 12-month period shall have been referred for at least one of the behaviors listed in items 1-6 in question 16 of the Individual Client Tracking Form (history of delinquent or undisciplined behavior, but no formal court involvement).

This is a minimum standard. These minimum standards are in the process of revision by our Department. A local JCPC may require a higher standard of programs if so desired.

There are two program types that are exceptions to this rule. They are:
  1. Prevention Programs -- They are exempt from this rule.
  2. Psychological testing -- They serve exclusively (100%) DJJDP Court Counselor referrals.
