Join local historian and author Dr. Gary Freeze as he shares a light-hearted, informative look at the people and events that have shaped the first 125 years of Claremont, NC. This event is a collaborative effort between the Catawba County Library System, the City of Claremont, and the Catawba County Genealogical Society. Light refreshments and live music.

The Opioid Crisis in Catawba County
Saturday, September 22 at 11 am
Lt. Chad Killian of the Catawba County Sherriff’s Office Narcotics Division will host a discussion about the growing epidemic in our community, county, and across the nation. He'll talk about what law enforcement is doing to combat the problem and what the community can do to help. Information on resources available to the public will be discussed as well.    

Advanced Gardener: Home Food Production & Preservation – The Four Season Strategy

Dr. George Place of the Catawba County Cooperative Extension offers helpful tips about homesteading and making sure you have a food supply from your landscape all year long through various preservation methods.

The Sherrills Ford-Terrell Friends of the Library will host an entertaining evening of music for all ages. Join us to explore Rhythm, Repetition & Return – the means by which music makes itself indispensable and unforgettable. Joyce O'Neal will present a lively (and probably loud!) program that will instantly make you much more conscious of the music all around you in grocery stores, movie theaters, and everywhere else.

Toddlers and children are invited for a fun time of building and constructing with our engineering and building sets, sponsored by the Local Government Federal Credit Union. Participants will be challenged to build sturdy, weight-bearing bridges and towers.

Paws to Read with Mini
Tuesday, September 25 from 4-6 pm
Elementary-aged children are invited to read to Mini, a certified therapy dog. Please sign up for a 15-minute session. Grades K and up.

Good Neighbor Day Friendship Rocks
