Teen Upcycling Project

Locally, a number of charitable organizations raise funds by selling donated items. Resource Warehouse is different in that it also showcases art, furnishings, and accessories made from materials that enjoyed a previous life. In addition, the organization offers workshops that teach participants how to fashion cool items for the home and garden from discarded goods.

For this year’s Summer Learning series, Resource Warehouse is bringing these classes to the Library, inviting teens to exercise their creativity and their vision as they transform what some have seen as trash into personal treasures.

The Resource Warehouse staff will provide guidance to participants as they figure out how to reuse materials, making new and original creations. The staff will also help them develop a practical awareness of reusing and recycling resources, identifying the worth in ‘junk’ and caring for the planet a little more intentionally.

This teen program takes place at 2 pm on Monday, June 17 at the Main Library in Newton. A second session will take place at 3 pm on Monday, June 24 at the St. Stephens Branch Library.
