Teaching Children Useful Money Skills
Published: May 23, 2018
Sometimes, we believe that children are too young to be introduced to the concept of how money works. But, the earlier the better for teaching them that saving for the future is beneficial, that delayed gratification serves a purpose, and that a certain amount of work is required in order to acquire certain things.
To help parents and caregivers with these important topics, the Library is welcoming a bank representative to teach children money skills in ways that resonate with them. If you’d like your child to have a healthier relationship with money, please join us on Tuesday, May 29 at 4 pm at the Main Library in Newton.
To make the lessons even more immediate, we’ll create savings jars for kids to take home and put the concepts into practice. With these skills and a little encouragement at home, you may never need to complain to your children that ‘money doesn’t grow on trees!’ They’ll already be a step ahead!
