Pre-K STEAM: Dino Dig
Published: July 25, 2018
What child doesn’t like dinosaurs? Whether they’re framed to frighten as roaring, stampeding T-Rexes or are rendered benevolent as cuddly plush toys, the intrigue of these enormous, long-gone creatures is unmistakable.
At our upcoming Library Pre-K STEAM program, we’ll treat them realistically according to the latest scientific discoveries, and we’ll make them accessible by placing them in the context of prehistory and other Mesozoic-era creatures.
To make the lesson immediate, we’ll dig for fossils to introduce the various dinosaurs. As children unearth specimens, we’ll talk about what we’ve found and consider what a paleontologist does. We’ll also discuss the enormous variety of dinosaurs that walked the earth so that kids can begin to share their knowledge of these amazing ancestors of birds and reptiles.
To have your child (age 3-6) participate in this fun, informative session, please register him or her by calling 828.466.6827. The program will take place Monday, July 30 at 4 pm at the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Branch Library.
