National Law Enforcement Memorial Week
Published: May 16, 2018
In the month of May law enforcement agencies observe and honor our brothers and sisters that have been killed in the line of duty with ceremonies and events across the country. This has been another deadly year for law enforcement, so far this year there have been 53 officers killed in the line of duty in the United States. As we approach National Peace Officers Memorial Day tomorrow, I ask that you take a few minutes to reflect and consider the men and women who have made the choice to serve at the cost of their own safety. Catawba County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard Team will be conducting our local memorial service this Friday at Catawba Memorial Park starting at 1:00 p.m. if you wish to attend. In addition a wreath laying ceremony, playing of bagpipes and Taps, and an honor guard firing a 21-gun salute will be included in the program. Keynote speaker will be R. Andrew Murray, United States Attorney, Western District of North Carolina.
