Learn About Chakras
November 28, 2018
Non-Western health treatments and approaches like acupuncture and massage are constantly infusing Western medicine with new ideas and insights. To help people seek out wide-ranging options for healing and restoration, the Library is excited to offer a workshop on chakras.
Chakras are energy centers of the body that affect us in physical, mental, and emotional ways, and they’re considered to be a bridge between body and mind. The word chakra comes from a Sanskrit term that means ‘wheel,’ because it’s believed that chakras are a series of spinning energy sources within the body that help regulate the body’s many processes. Traditionally, chakras comprise seven different areas from the head to the base of the spine.
John Wepner of the Wepner Wellness Center will share his understanding of the ancient Indian philosophy, as well as insights from a recent study by former NASA physicist Dr. Barbara Brennan. He’ll speak on the importance of keeping chakras free-flowing and talk about how issues with various ones can impact the health and wellness of various parts of the body and emotions.
To learn more about this fascinating system, join us at 10 am on Saturday, December 1 at the Main Library in Newton. If you’re someone who loves to dig deeper into the mind-body connection and the pursuit of well-being, you’ll find some great information in this seminar. There’s more to it scientifically that you might imagine!
