Go Stress-Free With Tai Chi
Published: December 20, 2018
The days after Christmas can be as challenging as the lead-up to the holiday. Once the festivities are over, we probably need to lose a few pounds, get the house back in order, and decompress from the abundance of time spent with friends and family.
Luckily, there’s tai chi at the Library. Its soothing motions are designed to help participants slow down, breathe deeply, and focus on something more than a to-do list. It’s worth your while to dedicate yourself to it for a few hours and reap the benefits of relaxation.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, tai chi is an ancient martial art that has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety while increasing flexibility and balance. It’s akin to meditation but with physical motion tossed into the mix. Tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movement.
The class meets each Thursday in December, and our next session takes place Thursday, December 27 at 4 pm at the Main Library in Newton. It’s suitable for all fitness levels and open to ages 14 and up (teens under 18 need to have a parental signature).
Come see how to incorporate these soothing regimens into your own life. The time is right, and plus, New Year’s is just around the corner!
