Get Help to Conduct a Smarter Job Search

Not having a job, trying to find a better job, and worrying about your existing job are some of life’s biggest stressors. Browsing the job listings, you’ll encounter paragraph after paragraph of requirements, responsibilities, hoped-for qualities, and special skills. As applicants, we worry whether we can meet all of those conditions and how to best portray ourselves in print and in person.
Luckily, the library partners with NC Works (the former Employment Security Commission) to help local folks refine their job searches and expand the ways they can present their best qualities to employers.
On the first Wednesday of each month at the Main Library in Newton, NC Works specialists make themselves available to provide one-on-one assistance to people who drop by. These talented career professionals can show you different techniques for finding the job openings that best fit what you’re looking for. They can also help with filling out job applications and making sure everything is complete and well-thought-out before you submit it.
If you’re looking to create a resumé or would like to take yours to the next level, the NC Works employees can share lots of terrific tips about how you can stand out to hiring managers and showcase your abilities to their utmost. The staff are easy to work with and non-judgmental, so there’s no reason to be shy about asking for their help. Their goal, like yours, is to help you find the best job to fit your skills and experience!
If you’d like to speak with the NC Works specialists during their regular monthly hours at the Main Library in Newton, stop by on Wednesday, April 4 from 10 am-2 pm.
