Bookmark Art Contest Begins

Bookmark Art Contest Begins

Published: May 24, 2019

On the heels of its popular photography contest, the Library is launching a new competition for young and old alike. We’re inviting county residents to create original art that we’ll feature on a series of bookmarks that will be distributed at county library branches and other local businesses.

The theme for the art is Libraries Build Community, and submissions should reflect what that means to each artist. The dimensions of each work should be 4 inches by 8 inches, and the media can by crayon, colored pencil, marker, watercolor, ink, charcoal, or pencil. Since the winning art will be scanned in order to be printed, everything should be flat and two-dimensional.

At least seven winners will be chosen from all the submissions, and they’ll be selected by a juried panel. A people’s choice award will also be awarded.

Artwork should be delivered to the Main Library in Newton (115 West C Street) between June 1 and 5pm on June 28. Each artist is allowed to submit one work.

To learn more, visit the library’s Arts @ the Library website or call 828.465.8665. An online template is also available for use, along with complete contest guidelines.
