Adult STEAM: Virtual Field Trip

Adult STEAM: Virtual Field Trip

Published: May 24, 2019

If you’ve ever been curious about all the amazing places our planet offers, the Library has fascinating new equipment that lets you travel the world without ever leaving home – and without the costs of airline tickets and hotel rooms!

This week, to give people a taste of Earth’s riches, we’re embarking on a field trip through the lens of virtual reality. We’ll strap on our VR goggles, explore the Great Barrier Reef, discover monuments and landmarks, and even drift into outer space – all from the comfort of an easy chair.

The Adult STEAM program introduces participants to the new frontier of technology, which evokes distant places, people, and historical eras, making them appear as if they were physically in front of you. It’s momentarily disconcerting but incredibly cool!

If you’d like to take part in the VR field trip, the seminar meets at 6 pm on Thursday, May 30 at the Main Library in Newton. No passport needed!
